Can recordings save as MP4?#

Player and tab/screen recordings offer MP4, WebM or Auto. Auto prefers native H.264/AAC MP4 and falls back to WebM when unsupported. Unavailable explicit MP4 is reported; choose WebM instead. After a save failure, reload the recording page to recover the original format from local cache.

How do I capture player buffers?#

Open Record & capture in the popup and use Change method to choose Player buffers. Select the player frame; only that page reloads. Play it again and keep both pages open without changing quality. One MP4 or WebM MSE player in an HTTP/HTTPS frame, including cross-origin frames, is supported. Original codecs are preserved; all-WebM buffers save as WebM, otherwise MP4. Restricted sandbox frames and codec or timeline changes are not supported.

Why select the media again after restarting?#

For expired links or request context, choose Refresh the source page on the failed task, replay the video and open FetchMV. Select the task and replacement media, then Restore. The task page and filename are retained; the new resource starts from scratch without mixing old cached bytes. Previously selected tracks or subtitles require confirmation again.

Why is no video detected?#

Play the video first. Reload pages that were open before installation. Browser internal pages, DRM and custom protocols may not work.

How do I cast to a TV?#

Your computer must be able to reach the LAN casting API. Click the cast icon next to a media item to send its URL. After “Cast request sent”, check playback on the receiver. No local casting service, device discovery or selection is needed. Retry if the request fails.

Can AES-128 encrypted HLS be downloaded?#

Common AES-128 on-demand streams can be saved as MP4 when the source provides accessible keys, including key rotation. If key access is denied, replay the source page. Invalid parameters or damaged segments fail explicitly. SAMPLE-AES, DRM and encrypted subtitles are not supported.

How do I choose HLS quality?#

Download uses the best available quality and paired audio. Open resource details and choose Download options to adjust them. Remuxing keeps the original encoding; it does not upscale video.

Can I also save subtitles?#

Select a language when an HLS on-demand playlist provides matching WebVTT subtitles. FetchMV saves an MP4 and a separate VTT file to load in your player. Both files must finish saving. Live captions, TTML and DASH subtitles are not supported yet.

Pause, resume or restart?#

Direct downloads depend on server support. HLS can pause and continue; after a browser restart it rebuilds from cached resources. Expired links, live windows or removed cache may require a new capture.

How do I record part of a video?#

Open Record & capture, use Change method to choose Player segment, then select a page, player and optional start/end seconds. Play the source once first. Blank times record from the current position to the end; pausing playback pauses recording. MP4 or WebM is re-encoded with approximate boundaries. Keep the source and recording pages open.

Can recording save every video?#

Record an accessible player directly or choose a tab or screen using the browser picker. Recording runs in real time; audio depends on the source and system. It is not lossless extraction and may not work for protected content.

Will downloads continue if I close this site?#

Each download has its own website page and starts after connecting. Closing a page pauses only its task; others continue. Choose the same media on the source page to reopen and continue. Processing stays local and no download history is kept.

What if a download fails?#

Use the primary recovery action for the reported error; alternatives are under Other actions. Resume or retry network failures, refresh expired sources, and clear idle download cache for storage errors. Incomplete media is never marked as a successful full download.

Can I save part of a failed download?#

After an ordinary HLS on-demand failure, a playable contiguous prefix can be saved as an incomplete partial file without subtitles. Partial save has its own progress; Cancel this save retains the original task and cache. After page closure or restart, reopen the source page and use Unfinished tasks in FetchMV to open the original task. Finish & clear requires confirmation and never deletes saved files.

How do I clear cache?#

Task and recording pages show extension storage usage and estimated browser quota, not free disk space. Unreferenced download directories are kept for at least 24 hours after discovery before automatic cleanup; manual cleanup requires confirmation. Active or recoverable tasks, recordings and saved files are retained. Recordings require individual discard confirmation.

Is download history kept?#

Finished downloads are removed from persistent storage. The current result is kept temporarily in this browser session and cleared when its download page closes. Saved files are kept.
